Illustration Friday - MOUSTACHE

Well, this week, I pulled out an oldie but, I think, a goodie. I always try to draw something new for the Illustration Friday challenges, but when I saw this week's prompt, I immediately thought of this guy....

And how I'd like to get back to doing this kind of mixed media art - an ink drawing colored with water color and colored pencil. Over the past year or two, for the sole purpose of expediency, I've been quickly sketching on plain old copy paper, inking the drawing, scanning it, & coloring digitally. It has worked for me. But I miss the texture and depth I get with the more traditional mediums. I had ear-marked a couple of drawings for this type of execution but never found the time to sit down & do it. I think it's about time I found that time.....

As always, I thank you for your interest, & appreciate your comments!!

  2. Mit, you are absolutely right. This piece has a much more professional look; It's great. I'm dealing with the time issue as well; I feel I've been hacking out my Blogger cartoons for the most part. Doing the blog is very time consuming, even when the posts are quickly done because I always feel as though each gag has to be funnier than the one before, but it's the best feeling when I'm done. It's so worth it to me. Tried Tumbler twice and really hate the fast-food way art is treated there. I'm going to buckle and make a professional page on FB that can be 'liked' since I still don't have that, but I feel I'll always be doing Blogger, don't care if it's not as hip as social media right now. It's a great community.

  4. YAY! I've been away for FAR too long, my friend! I love your simply fabulous chef! SO fun! Thank you for poppin' by and leaving such a sweet comment at my blog recently. You made my day! I hope you've been well and are working on some fun projects dear Mit!

LOVE the traditional medium Mit..but your digital is also wonderful. With so many social media platforms to keep on top of, and stay creative, working in traditional and digital, it begins to make my head fuzzy. So I continue to plod along with paper and pencil and just make that happen for me, myself and I. I think it's great to go to your roots and get messy with our supplies. :) Keep up the wonderful work!

  7. I'm an old fashioned paper sort of gal. I think experimenting keeps it fresh though. Good for you!

  8. I hear ya with working with traditional mediums. There's nothing like the textures that you can get in working traditionally. They are more organic feeling for sure. This is a wonderful piece and I love his stache! :)
