Illustration Friday - CHILDREN

Click to enlarge....really, you need to see this one BIG!
Here is a serious BLAST FROM THE PAST! I completed this one for my senior portfolio review at Syracuse University.... 20 years ago!! *gulp!* (I considered lying about that, but you can see the year next to my signature!) When I saw this week's challenge word was CHILDREN, this piece instantly came to mind, & I knew nothing I could come up with now would be more appropriate! This is a scan of a color copy of the original piece, so the color is wonky, & it is slightly cut off on the left side. And of course, there are a great many things I could do better now. But I think the original charm holds true. Just a piece that I created in hopes of giving the viewer something really FUN to look at! Are you smiling?

  1. That theme made me realize I don't have any pieces with more than one child in them. I'm going to have to work on that. That would be a good but difficult addition to my portfolio. Like your blast from the past!

  13. I can't get it to zoom, Mit! But from the looks of it, I am SO impressed! Your work always makes me smile..and I do appreciate your kind visit today too. Trying to take a stab at posting more and showing more sketchwork - so your kind comment definitely encourages me to keep going! I just added the B sketch to my post..have a look again if you have some time. : ) These are based on my daughter and I's challenge each morning to pair an animal with a food starting with a letter of the alphabet..two things we love..animals and food. : )

  15. You are one brave soul, Mit. I can't bear to look at stuff I did in college, let alone post it for the world to see! Granted, if my college stuff looked like this, I might be more inclined. Great piece.

  17. I had to wait to look more closely until after I finished my IF this week -- this is great! Your style has stayed consistent, it's really YOU! I love the kids eating sand and worms, and the sand grouping in the upper left. Awesome.
