My studio Facebook page just hit a pretty cool milestone this week - 900 likes!!! Wow!!! I work hard to keep things interesting over there, so it has been very gratifying (not to mention fun!!) to see more & more people stopping by to see my work, & enjoying what they see enough to click 'like'!!! It's funny. I just don't seem to be able to grow the readership here as easily, despite my efforts! But the friends I HAVE made through IF and this blog are truly invaluable to me, so you guys are stuck with me for awhile, anyway! *wink!*
A regular art blog is definitely a more complicated beast. For one thing, some people don't like to read long posts (even if they're not long! I know yours are generally short, and I try to keep mine short usually), and it usually takes more effort on the reader's part to visit (and then more to comment, of course). Anyway, that's my theory. The other thing is that I have a tracker for visits, and it's much higher than for comments. I'm sure that's true for most blogs, so you probably have more visitors than you think!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the milestone!
Congratulations Mit! Have just "liked" your facebook page and made it 908!! That's a seriously impressive following!!! Very privileged to be one of your "secret" blog members. Seriously though, I have no idea how people up their blog members but like you know I have made some great friends through IF and very chuffed to have them as followers! (you included!!)
ReplyDeleteWell done Mit, that's a fantastic number of likers :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mit!!...I know what you mean...the bloggers life is a hard one...some of the best artists I know don't seems to have hardly any comments because they just do the Artwork and post without being a 'Blogger' who visits/comments on friends blogs. I am starting to care less about numbers and satisfy myself with doing the Art...and occasionally being polite!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Mit! Awesome number!
ReplyDeleteI think that's great, Mit. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rod, though. I get so much more satisfaction out of posting on Blogger. It takes time to leave actual comments here, and the feedback is so important to me. Punching a 'like' button on FB, or someone re-posting my art on Tumbler doesn't tell me anything.
Blogger reminds me of my high school art room, where us fellow artists would draw and paint while listening to music, exchanging ideas back and forth about art while we created it. good times. I dont get that feeling on FB.
ReplyDeleteThat is a milestone! I feel like I would only get a handful of facebook likes. Good for you. Yeah, I can't seem to up my blog followers either. Even though I get a lot of visits. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the milestone! wow...900 likes seems soo far away for me! lol yours are well deserved!
ReplyDeleteI rarely get readers or responses on my blog, but I always try to link my blog to facebook to get the readers to come on over. once in a blue moon that works, but its rare! I guess it doesn't help that I run my blog through my website instead of blogspot or something similar! lol I've participated in IF, but just my old work...and awhile ago...maybe I should start that up again!!
Anyway sorry for rambling on your blog!! Congrats again, on your awesome milestone!!
