Illustration Friday - IDENTICAL

Andrew embraced his individuality, even if nobody else seemed to.

Since discovering Illustration Friday earlier this year, I have participated in exactly 30 challenges. The streak almost ended there, because this week,  I was stumped. I always like to take a different approach whenever I can, so anything with twins just wasn't gonna happen here. The week wore on, & I really thought I was going to have to pass on this until today, I started thinking about.... ants.....and how, without some kind of disfigurement, its nearly impossible to tell members of the same nest apart....
Anyway, that's how I arrived at the above! Hope you like! As always, I appreciate you stopping by!!

  1. You made it, you didn't miss a week, and you didn't have to compromise quality to do it. Great idea and execution here! There's something so surreal and cool about a purple ant--makes me say screw those other ants, this Andrew's the coolest! Love the tie he's wearing too

  2. Well done for getting there.Purple ants look cool - or rather ONE purple ant looks cool.

I couldn't think of anything either to start with EXCEPT identical twins and "like 2 peas in a pod". Like you, I like doing a skewed interpretation.

  3. Andrew is stylin' hard. And it looks like he stopped the other boring ants in their tracks, too. Good one and congratulations, you got in just under the wire. ha.

  6. Arrgh, I missed this one. I haven't been able to spend *quite* as much time going through the entries, but because of the new layout it also takes a lot more time. This is hilarious! The shoes and tie and hat, so funny! Great idea for the topic!

    1. I agree with you Cindy. I'm finding it harder to navigate as quickly or visit as many people who've posted for IF since they changed the format. :(

  7. I feel the same way you do about IF ideas; I figure whatever pops into my head first will be too popular and I reject it! This is a great idea. I never even thought of ants! What a perfect subject for this week, and your illustration is really fun.

  8. I like how the IF challenges get my mind to working, and it's fun to see how other people's minds work on them too. Cute ants. PS -- I left you something at my site. Enjoy!

  9. I like your take on Identical. I was stuck on twins. Sometimes it's a struggle to think of something unique for IF. :)

  10. Very cool! I love how the colors pop out. Sometimes I think of great ideas, sometimes, I miss. But that's the fun of it.

  11. Great for you for pushing through and working on this to complete the prompt for this week..I hear you, sometimes you just get stumped! But lookeee..how wonderful this piece is. Your characters always have such happy warmth and playfulness to them. I love his playful personality - good for him for showing who he is amongst all of those identical ants! : ) Always so nice of you to visit..I really appreciate it!! And thank you for your kind vote!!
