Swimming Seymour
WOW!!! I'm early this week!!! (Well, for me, anyway!) This guy began as a quick sketch during a meeting on Friday. Wasn't sure I'd get to finished art at all, things have been so hectic lately, but my weekend plans fell through, & I had some unexpected studio time! (Never a bad thing!) And so I present to you, swimming Seymour! As always, thanks for stopping by!!!

Illustration Friday - EYEGLASSES

His friends had no idea Arnold was an avid reader....

Something a little different this week....going black & white, and pen & ink. Less in the way of bold lines, more in detail. This guy was done with my trusty Rapidograph, one of my absolute favorite tools to work with. Picking it up tonight was like visiting an old friend. I wish I'd had time to drop in a little color, but it is what it is! Hope you like! As always, I appreciate you stopping by! :)

New Book Project- Sneak Peek!

Been crazy-busy these days. Among my current workload is a fun book project starring the cute little guy above as the main character. My client has been an absolute dream to work with thus far, which I am eternally grateful for. I've had some challenging business relationships in the past, and always consider myself very fortunate when I click with someone so well that I am to bring their vision to life fairly easily! Hopefully she will be just as pleased with the end result as she has been with the sketches! I figured I'd post this sneak peek, since I think I might finally end my streak & not participate in the Illustration Friday challenge this week....a bit disappointing, but 57 consecutive weeks is nothing to sneeze at! :)
As always, I appreciate you stopping by!

Illustration Friday - TALENT

When I first saw this week's prompt was "TALENT," I was going to draw a character doing something completely silly...like juggling kittens & cups of tea or something....but then I really thought about it, & a "talent" is something to be admired and appreciated.....so I thought back to this piece I really liked that I did WAAAAAAAAAY back in college, that was inspired by one of my favorite guitarists, Steve Vai. Talk about talent!!!

And while the word "talent" may be defined as "a special natural ability or aptitude," make no mistake, that does not mean there is no work involved. A talent is as much a SKILL as it is a gift. I am sure Steve Vai does plenty of practicing! Oddly enough, the example next to the definition was "a talent for drawing." I can speak first hand to the amount of practice it takes to hone one's skills in that area!! I am always trying to learn & improve when it comes to that! I'm sure many of you can relate!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and taking a peek at a little something out of the archives!
