Illustration Friday - FADED

Their love for each other had faded to the point where they were
now referred to as "cohabitating birds."

So maybe this isn't exactly the right type of material if my aim is to make you smile...but perhaps you can find a bit of humor in their looks of reproachfulness & disdain....maybe? OK. Maybe not. But you can't say it doesn't fit this week's theme!! (Quite honestly, I don't know why one of them just doesn't fly away!)  As always, I appreciate your visit and your comments!!

All the better to see you with!

With that many eyes, there's a lot of seeing going on! (Some with the aid of glasses!) Not to mention the fact that the spider is quite a sight to begin with! (Is the fly more  horrified at its choice in reading material or taste in shoes?!)

Yeah, I got a little silly this week. Mixed some techniques, and in general, just played around. Wouldn't consider the result my best work, but it was fun!!

I always draw something new each week for Illustration Friday, thus the spider & the fly, but I  thought this old favorite (below) also fit the theme pretty well. As always, I appreciate your comments & taking the time to check out my work!! Until next week........

Illustration Friday - KERNEL
This week I only had time for a quick sketch. My muse was my little studiomate, Miss Miga. She always has an overflowing bowl of kernels from which to pick through! Of course, she selects the best morsels, & leaves the rest! When I had her pose for this sketch, I admit I sort of cheated a little, and kept handing her cheerios to fill her pouches....but the kernels were definitely in the bowl!!

This week, I was asked by a wonderful artist whose work I've enjoyed & commented on if I wanted to exchange links. This was a new concept for me, but what fun!!! So I added a space on my blog for other cool links to blogs I like.  One of my favorite things about Illustration Friday is networking & visiting other artists' sites! If YOU would like to exchange links, drop me a note!

As always, thanks for visiting!
Miga likes to sit on her wheel & watch me type. Here, I apparently wasn't all
that interesting because she fell asleep &  did a face-plant into the bedding.....

Illustration Friday - HITCHED

Self-sufficient Seymour slid on home with his snack.

This week I thought I'd mix it up a little, & instead of adding all the color digitally, I had some fun playing with watercolor & colored pencils (with a digital background) for a more textured look.  (AND to keep me away from the computer for a bit, due to the dizzy spells I've been getting during the past few days!)

I toyed with the idea of doing a realistic, serious pen & ink stipple of a draft horse in harness, but in the end went with whimsical little Seymour. I mean, if my goal is to make you smile, he was a better bet than a horse toiling away, and in black & white, no less! But I'm sure some week, if the stars align, & I have both the time, & the right theme, I'll stretch my legs with a complicated pen & ink piece...but smiles will not be guaranteed! ; )  As always, I appreciate your visit & your comments!

Illustration Friday - JUMP

Mack considered himself fairly athletic, so he was up to the challenge when the girls invited him to play during recess. However, as he jumped, he thought to himself, "What did I get myself into?!"

Each week I try to play around, experiment, and have some fun.  I figured there may be several pieces featuring jumping rope, so I wanted mine to be a little bit different..... I hoped bringing Mack onto the playground would accomplish that....

When I learned the theme this week was "JUMP," I couldn't help but recall poor Molly and Rusty from "INTENTION" and wanted to give them another moment in the sun, to make up for the pain & suffering. Unfortunately, they don't really qualify for "JUMP."  Maybe......"FAILED-TO-JUMP......." and of course, "INTENDED-TO-JUMP....."    But you'll be glad to know Molly has fully recovered from her concussion, and now sweeps the rails for spiders before bringing Rusty onto the course!

It was Molly's INTENTION to clear the fence WITH Rusty, but unfortunately, she ended up going it alone.

As always, I thank you for visiting! Be sure to "follow" this blog if you don't want to miss any of the fun! And if you feel so inclined, please check out & "like" my page on Facebook (link in the top right corner!) See you next week!
