I've been feeling under the weather this past week (read: coughing up a lung), and haven't done much drawing lately, but I couldn't resist this week's challenge word, EXOTIC. We often fear what is strange to us....but maybe this bee's imagination has run away with him, & the plant is just misunderstood.......hmmm............ (Either way, I'll blame this rather bizarre idea on the meds!!!)
Last year I illustrated a book called Sunny the Sneaker. It was a fun project, the author was a joy to work with, and by the end, I'd completely fallen in love with the main character, Sunny. Well, Sunny is finally in print, and I was excited to receive my 2 copies from the author last week! Always cool to see the finished project after months & months of work, and it's ridiculously fun watching my library grow! Looking forward to attending the book launch in a few weeks, where I will be drawing for and perhaps with some local children!!
That bee is adorable! Maybe he knows something about the plant that we don't.
ReplyDeleteYou're right the Bee is just paranoid...since the plant ate 2 thousand of his brother and sisters....THe book you illoed looks great!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Sunny the Sneaker looks like a fun book, it has a very inviting cover. Solid read?
ReplyDeleteI like your bee, but I really don't think they're scared of much, just reckless. Every morning I go out and fish a couple of them out of the birdbath that they accidently fell into while drinking. They look like the frozen dead but when I lay them in the sun they come back to life and eventually fly away. My good deed every morning.
Congratulations! I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteYes best to play it safe, the exotic plant might be a bee-eater. Congratulations on your book!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the boo - the little sneaker is SO CUTE! And that poor bee! Hilarious!
ReplyDelete(Book even!)
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute cover. Congrats!
